Minor.
Our minor hurlers played lorrha on Monday last in the north A quarter final with Newport winning by two points. This was a tough encounter with both sides giving their all and Kieran doheny’s goal was the turning point of the game. Declan hayes gave a man of the match performance at centre back for Newport which hopefully will have been noticed by the intermediate management, he was ably assisted by cormac mc grath and sean o brien and ger grace gave an exhibition of wing back play. Newport now play kiladangan on Tuesday (last night) in nenagh. Best of luck lads and what a sight it would be to see Newport contest a north A minor final.
Inters.
Sat eve last saw a challenge between our inter and junior hurlers in the park, the game lacked intensity but was a good work out for all concerned. Speedy recovery to Michael ryan (bawn) who picked up a nasty injury to his ankle.

U12
Our U12 hurlers have reached the County Final after a thrilling victory over Durlas Og last week in Borrisoleigh. Following their great win over Moneygall in the North Final they were paired with the Mid winners. Played in miserable conditions, Newport were dealt an early blow as Durlas Og scored 1-1 in the first minute. Newport took some time to settle but to their credit they dug deep and thanks to goals from Michael Quigley and Brian McAuliffe and a well taken point from Rob Houlihan they went ahead before half time. After the break Durlas Og rebounded with another goal to tie the game again. Then , a fine 65 pointed from Conor Floyd followed by another from Cian Flanagan put Newport ahead. Durlas replied with another point to leave the game in the balance right up to the end. However Newport were not finished yet when Kealan Floyd and Daniel Delaney linked up to create another chance for Brian McAuliffe who crashed the ball to the net. Final Score Newport 3-4 Durlas Og 2-1. Elsewhere on the team Oisin O Reilly made a number of fine saves whilst Emer O Brien and Conor Floyd cleared their lines efficiently. The half back line of Rob Houlihan, Pa Ryan ( Capt ) and Liam Duffy worked tirelessly. Paul Hogan and Kalem Harte had good moments at midfield. The half forward line of Keith Mawdsley, Michael Quigley and Cian Flanagan contested every ball with vigour whilst the inside forwards, Daniel Delaney and Brian McAuliffe linked up well on a number of occasions. Kealan Floyd and Conor Hickey also performed well when introduced. Well done to all concerned and the very best of luck in the County Final next Saturday in Semple Stadium. All support welcome.
